Security Council

Júlia Veloso  ( julia.veloso@aluno.chpr.com.br)

Hi delegates! My name is Júlia Veloso and I’m currently a senior in the Swiss School of Curitiba and due to our weird calendar, I graduate this December. I am one of the chairs of the Security Council on SMUN 2017.  I’m really excited because it is my first time chairing a SC! I’m sure you’ll all enjoy SMUN’s experience (especially in the Security Council). If you have any doubts, please contact me at julia.veloso@aluno.chpr.com.br! See you all in September!

Michelle Gusmão (21gusmaom@pasb.com.br)

Hello, delegates and diplomats of the future! I stand in great excitement to meet you all in September, and to chair heated rounds of debates which will eventually remain in my life as unforgettable memories and life lessons. My name is Michelle Gusmão and I am a freshman at Pan American School Bahia, who will graduate in 2021. I feel honored to be the co-chair of the Security Council Committee during SMUN 2017. Furthermore, my MUN career began when I was an eighth grader and was formally invited to participate in the 2016 edition of SALMUN; conference hosted by my school. At first, I felt a little worried about debating and pretty overwhelmed by the position papers and resolutions, which I didn’t know how to do. However, at the end, all of the work was worth doing, as I learned from participating in such fruitful debate. From that day on, I became passionate about MUN, as I saw it as a way to cherish youth empowerment and the best way to find compromise amongst opposing sides.  In one year, I attended seven conferences, including BRAMUN, SPMUN, and TBSRJMUN. Outside of MUN, you will often find me studying or engaged in PASB’s high school girls soccer team. I hold a special feeling towards any kind of sport, especially soccer and I am always seeking to inspire and motivate others at my school.
